TGIs is a great place to go if you are having any kind of party e.g. birthday or hen party where all you want is good food and drinks at reasonable prices with good service. The only downside to the Southampton branch is that it can get very noisy due to the fact that most of the people going there go for the reasons mentioned above, and with cocktails that big...no wonder! I would recommend it as it's great fun but possibly not the best place for an intimate / romantic date!

When looking for a luxury meal out for our anniversary, I found The Montague Arms Hotel. The atmosphere and setting is beautiful, and service excellent. Though at the time we went, the restaurant was unfortunatley quiet (it was a Monday evening) I get the impression that the service would be just as brilliant when the restaurant is full. Finally, I am somone who is very keen on their desserts and have tried many-a-puc, but the bannana souffle with butterscotch sauce I finished my meal with at The Montague Arms was without doubt the best I have ever eaten! It's not a cheap choice, but as a treat, well worth the money!

POSH stands for Port out, Staboard Home, and is themed to look as if you are in the 1st class quaters of a cruise liner. The interior is beautifully laid out and the restaurant has a very pleasant atmosphere. We went for the £15 buffet option which gave us all the poppadoms, starters, curry, rice and dessert we could eat - fantastic value for money. The food was absolutely beautiful, the best naan I've ever had! Service was also fantastic, when my partner wanted a hotter curry than the three varieties they had brought out, they happily went to get him another choice. The only thing that took the 5th star away was that they were doing building works that, while they apoligised as soon as we arrived, could arguable have been completed during the morning or mid-afternoon, not at 7 pm at their peak dining time. Overall I would highly recommend this restarant, no matter how small or large your group.
