National Railway: Southampton Central
Had meal here 5th March 2009 and the restaurant was extremely cold. The radiators were not on and the ones that I found were (off) very little electric ones. I asked the waitress how she kept warm and she said by running around and keeping busy. The waitresses did not appear to enjoy working there. I was surprised that bottled beer, no draught, was £3.00 GBP for a small bottle - the atmosphere and environment did not feel right to justify that price. Across the road at Zen (Japanese Restaurant) it is £3.40 GBP for a draught pint - visit there one week earlier. Same credit crunch era!!! However, the food was pretty OK. The restaurant was maybe +75 per cent EMPTY that Thursday night. It is beyond me - why do they nearly hide the 10% service charge to parties of six or more - especially now with the economic climate. I did not enjoy the experience and I left as soon as I could because my feet were that damn cold - home felt luxurious by comparison.
