Look for more: Video Production Filming Copying in Southampton
i-catching movies tells its customers' stories on video. A complete story makes an argument for solving a problem. A business is an argument for dealing with a problem too. The better the story, the better the argument. A story helps potential customers understand your business and why it's important to them. A story on your website works repeatably and reliably qualifying new leads while you sleep.
There are several things that video can do. Its main roles are to provide information and to entertain, sometimes with an agenda and it can do both at the same time. But there are rules for using it in either and both circumstances and the rules depend upon the objective you have. A CCTV camera tells you what happens. The TV news is a little more sophisticated but essentially it presents illustrated facts for your consumption. Adverts either inform you or attempt to propagandise you. And there is so much more that can be done with film and its descendants. Video is only a medium but it can carry payloads that are as old as humanity. Throughout history people have sat around fires listening to stories after eating and before sleep. And good stories are compelling no matter what the medium. After genre, we tend to segment stories into either good or bad but it is a lot more involved than that. In illiterate cultures stories had a couple of objectives beyond simple entertainment. These are to pass on the history of that culture in a form which preserves its integrity as well as possible and the other is to educate. The ability to satisfy so many objectives mean that story is really a very powerful tool in the right hands. It is often used to change minds or to convince. In fact this is a fundamental facet of story - the ability to make an argument. And when you consider it the argument can be made on both logical and emotional levels. In fact it is most convincing when this happens. Novels often do this as do adverts, films and documentaries etc. YouTube is now the biggest TV channel on Earth I believe. And on it you can see all sorts of stuff from gratuitous nonsesnse, via streams of painful teenage angst through pieces of interesting stuff and finally on to well finished bits of TV quality material. And all of it gets looked at whether from your perspective it is the best or the worst. But not all of it has any impact. That is down to the storytelling skills of the producer. And that is what lets down so much TV, film and video - a poorly structured and told story cannot be rescued no matter how glitzy the effects. Like all of us I am selective and will only watch stuff that works for me. And somewhat unsurprisingly I find that the stuff to which I give most credence has been made by people who understand the medium and can work it.
