This is a great pub in the Shirley area. It is located opposite the Common so is great place to stop by for a refreshing drink after a long walk or cycle in the Common. There is an outdoor garden - dogs are welcome. The Bellmoor tends to get very busy in the evenings, especially on a Sunday and a Tuesday night when the quiz nights take place. The quality of the quizmaster/mistress tends to vary from week to week to be honest - sometimes the time flies, and other times, it's a real drag between questions! The quiz kicks off at 8pm on both nights, but unless you want to spend the night on your feet, get there early to secure a table! It costs £1 per team member and prizes are in cash (once a month they give the money to a local charity). They also do poker nights from time to time, but I've not been, so can't really comment. It's a popular place to eat, with the usual pub fayre. They do have a tendency to run out of staples such as rice (how they can run out of rice I don't know!) during busy periods, such as quiz nights.
